Parasha Curriculum Our Parasha curriculum covers Sefarim Beraishit and Shemot. Throughout the week we discuss the storyline of the Parasha. This is an opportune time to learn valuable lessons about the character, Midot and good deeds of our ancestors, and apply them to our lives. Every Friday each student receives a Parasha booklet with beautiful drawings. It contains simple questions, bonus questions and discussion. A beautifully colored pamphlet titled "Hadaf Hashavui" which contains Parasha tidbits to discuss at the Shabbat table is also distributed to the students.
Hagim Curriculum The Jewish calendar keeps us busy as we utilize each Hag to derive many lessons and skills. In addition to learning the basic storyline and history of each Hag, we embellish each lesson with catchy songs and creative projects. Hebrew reading and Ivrit skills are reinforced with the Tal Am series of books, tapes and games for the Hagim.
Ariot Curriculum Ariot is an aid to learning the letters and vowels of the Hebrew alphabet through a fun, colorful, exciting and interactive program. This includes full color workbooks, posters, bulletins, games, library books, songs and stories that cater to each student.
Goal: To master Hebrew reading and gain a larger vocabulary through sight words.
Criteria for Goal Achievement:
- Ability to recognize letters of Aleph Bet
- Ability to recognize vowels of Aleph Bet
- Ability to read complete sentences and stories
- Ability to read and recognize sight words
- Ability to follow directions and instructions in Hebrew
- Ability to answer questions on information that was taught
- Ability to write the letters in Hebrew script
Keriah Curriculum A new, personalized Keriah program has been introduced this year. Each student has the ability to read one on one with a teacher during each Keriah session. This enables each child to master specific skills in a most efficient and successful manner.
Goal: To master phonetic Hebrew reading through accuracy and fluency.
Criteria for Goal Achievement:
- Ability to identify names of each letter
- Ability to identify sounds of each letter
- Ability to identify names of each vowel
- Ability to identify sounds of each vowel
- Ability to read phonetic conjunctions, whole words and sentences
Hebrew Language Curriculum
The students utilize the Ariot Cal Computer Program. A program made possible by The Gruss Fund, which is designed to enhance the Ariot taught in the classroom. It is an interactive learning experience that helps the students practice and advance in their Ivrit skills.
The goal of this curriculum is to develop students who are capable of understanding, speaking and writing basic Hebrew. This curriculum also prepares our students for learning Humash, and instills in our students a love of Israel and its people. Grade one utilizes the renowneds Tal Am program. This curriculum is based upon the principles of "communicative-heritage language acquisition."

- Ability to correctly respond orally, in Hebrew to oral Hebrew questions
- Ability to read and comprehend Hebrew storybooks
- Ability to write creatively and functionally in Hebrew
Hebrew Writing Curriculum The goal of this curriculum is to develop students capable of recognizing and writing the Hebrew alphabet in script. A custom made book is used to introduce the script Alef-Bet. To review the letters, and to practice writing full sentences in script, the Tal Am workbook, Ariot Kotev is used.
Criteria for Goal Achievement:
- Ability to write legibly (neatly)
- Ability to write legible sentences, spacing correctly
- Ability to form letters properly starting at correct points
