Welcome to 6th grade Earth Science and 7th grade Life Science!

 

In Earth Science we will be learning about earth's atmosphere, weather and climate in the first trimester, extending into the second.  Students will learn about thunderstorms, hurricanes and tornados as well as current issues concerning pollution and climate change.

 

In the second trimester we will shift our focus to geology and related solid earth sciences, including exciting topics such as earthquakes and volcanoes.  The third trimester will continue with our geological interests, and then zoom off into space, exploring the planet's place in the cosmos.

 

In Life Science we will be learning about cells, the "building blocks" of life through the first trimester and into the second, as we continue with the study of genetics.  Students will learn some of the properties and functions of DNA, even as scientists still are working to unravel the mysteries of life's central molecule.

 

The second trimester will then continue with the study of the human body, including body systems such as the skeleton and digestive system.  The third trimester may conclude with a short intoduction to bacteria and plants, and their importance to people.
